Would it be safe to say that the release of the new Mocrosoft Vista programme spells the end of Lotus Smartsuite as a viable product if not now in the present but in the near future?

I think that would depend on how fast xp phases out and whether IBM decides to do another update/upgrade.
Why are you so sure that Vista means the end of Smartsuites?
From what I read, Vista is not a radical change from XP. More to do with better graphics, handling of multimedia and such; that is, basically changes around the edges of the OS--not the core. I'm not sure it will mean any significant changes for primarily text-based programs as those in Smartsuite. (I should add that we use only Approach and Word Pro, and that I am most definitely not a programmer.)
