Hi,

I've an application with use of a simple file based database (couple of files *.dbf). The question is how to secure the database in order to prevent some bad user to modify the data from outside the CBuilder app. Is there a simple method or tool to do that? E.g. encrypt the dtabase and decrypt it within CBuilder app.

Has anybody experience on this point?

There are some MS APIs included with Borland. Look at the MS documentation for CryptEncrypt and CryptDecrypt. You can also find the documentation on MSDN.

I personally find these to be rather bulky. There is also an open source option from TurboPower called LockBox. See This includes a variety of encryption/decryption schemes.
