Encryption/Compression

We have been backing up one of our servers to a LTO 100/200 GB tape for quite awhile now. The backups were aroun 125GB worth of data, but through the hardware compression, they were fitting on the tape.

This week we installed the encryption option, and now the backups will not complete, stopping at around 100GB.

Is this "normal" behavior, is there a workaround, or do I just need to go out and get 200GB tapes?

Encryption or Compression. Choose one or the other, AFAIK you cannot have both under Netbackup.

Larger capacity tapes would be the (very expensive) answer, as for 200Gb LTO2 tapes you would need LTO2 drives.

Is the encryption absolutely necessary?
