Do I need separate encryption software in addition to my choices in the Airplus setup? Under my choices in the D-Link(1.9 3.05) configuration window on the PC, I have Data Encryption with the choices open or shared authentication, with subchoices of default keys 1 to 4 and key formats of hex or ascII. Should encryption be on each computer? There is no info in the D-Link books supplied with the adapter card or with the router.

Will my CA EZ Antivirus suffice or should I combine it with their package that includes firewall?

And, off subject, would you do your banking on a wireless ISP? My feeling, rational or not, is to use a telephone connection.

You should use wireless encryption on the wireless router/switch . For most low end models currently it is 64 or 128 WEP encryption , don't know about your particular model . Your encryption settings need to be duplicated on the router and the wireless nic cards in order to get it to work . Also your SSID's must match also . This encrytpion is for the transmission between your wireless client and the router and has nothing to do with your AV which you should always have . I think wireless is "fairly" secure , unless someone is riding around your neighborhood with a wireless packet sniffer and decoding equipment the likelyhood that somebody will steal anything is pretty low . like anything nothing is 100 percent .Cable uses shared segments so anyone with a sniffer could potentially pull info off that so who knows , I would think DSL is more secure as everything is home run back to the CO where it connects into the internet . As long as the website where yhou do your banking is using SSL the transactions are secure and would be very difficult to crack . Have never seen any reputable site not use SSL when doing any kind of monitary transactions on the web so it shouldn't be a concern .
