How do I enable Windows 2000 for speech?

Do you mean you talk to the machine or it talks to you?

Try the Windows Logo key and letter U key combination:

1) Press and hold down the Windows Logo Key (the thing that looks like a "flying window") which is located between the Ctrl and Alt keys on your keyboard.

2) Press and release the U (as in Umbrella) key.

3) Release the Windows Logo key.

You'll hear the computer saying things like "Foreground window, Microsoft Narrator, OK, push button, ..." (etc.)

(When it gets annoying, just close out of all the dialog boxes that appeared by clicking their close (X) buttons.)

We tried to get it to read our test results but just creased up when it tried pronouncing the TLAs.
