Hi,

I am running Call Manager 3.3 on Cisco IP Phones 7940,7960 & 7910. How do I enable speed dial. I would also like to display more than the callers name on the phones.

There must be a better way!!!

What else do you want to display. Can yo uedit the Caller ID field appropriately?

Couple ways you can implement speed dials. First, you can do this via the Services button utilizing Fast Dials/Address Book, or Abbreviated Dial (don't remember if 3.3 had this feature, if not, you're stuck with the Fast Dials/Address Book).

For the Fast Dials and Address Book, you must add the services to your IP Phone Services via CCMAdmin, and then add them to users' phones. Here's the full doc (it's for 3.2 but it's the same procedure for 3.3):

For Abbreviated Dial, you simply add the AbbrDial softkey to users' softkey template, and have them go into CCMUser and add their speed dials to their phones. But again, I can't remember if 3.3 had that capability (might just be a 4.0 thing).

You said, "I would also like to display more than the callers name on the phones." What exactly do you mean, here...? On internal calls, CCM displays the alerting name/internal caller ID name if it's configured, as well as the internal extension. On external calls, that's a different story, involving passing the IE element out to the PSTN and having the PSTN pass you the IE element in return...could you clarify a bit?

Thanks for the link that should be helpful. As far as displaying more info. I mean internally, we would like to display job title and room number etc.

Ohhh gotcha. If it can fit in the alerting name/internal caller ID, then you can...but as far as I know, there isn't any way to send additional info with the name...
