I am running a 1601R Router and want to enable it for SNMP monitoring with Solar Windss Engineers Edition SOftware. THe software automatically picks out my netware servers running TCP/IP and my HP hubs but doesn't reckonise my Router. I believe this to be that SNMP hasn't been enable on the router (certainly the Startup-config makes no mention to it). Am I on the right lines and if so how do I enable it? ANy help would be appreciated.

Pretty easy.. go to global config ( config t) and :

snmp-server community public RO ; I would recommed something other then the default of "public" and "prviate"
snmp-server community private RW

THere are some other settings but just to use solarwinds, this is all you need.
