I have an older computer which I was running Slackware 7.1 for 3 years. Against my better judgement I decided to install Slackware 9. Well I have been srtuggling to get my modem going. I setup and isapnp.conf file, and have started testing interrupts. When I reboot the box, I see that ISAPNP finds the modem and pnp sound card just fine. when I run pppsetup, ive tried PAP as well as CHAP authentication (the "help" desk people at the ISP were not too sure as to which one the used.
I just can't seem to mage a connection. On the Slack 7.1 setup
I used com3 ttyS2 with irq 11 which worked. With Slack 9, irq 11 is used by something else. I have been amending isapnp.conf and serial.conf to different combinations but nothing seems to work so far.
Any suggestions would be welcome
