Enabling FDE.2 encryption?

I've just purchased several new Seagate Momentus 5400 FDE.2 drives capable of onboard full disk encryption. The drives arrived without activation software (yes - I did purchase through legitimate channels).

I'm installing these drives into existing HP/Compaq laptops and I require the activation/management software that goes with them.

Is anyone aware of a download site that has this software available? I don't even know exactly what it is called as I believe different vendors include the same software but call it different names.

If anyone has any ideas please share?

Thanks

In researching this it appears that a version of the DriveTrust is required in the BIOS for these drives to function properly according to this PDF:

So...it seems the software is not something you can add-in, although the lack of Web documentation does not look good for the technology in general, unless it has received a new name as you suggest.

I'd check with the vendor. There are many alternative encryption apps available today, I'm not sure I'd want my OS files encrypted as would be the case with whole-drive security apps like this one.
