Enabling FC4500 Serial Port or Help Configuring

Hello,

I just inherited a FC4500. But I cannot use the serial port to change the RAID sets. It outputs to the serial port with POST, the disclaimer and says it is turning control over to the serial port and then nothing else. It is seen by the system.

So, can I enable the serial port with a special character sequence or do I have to set/change jumpers on the SP or do I need software to configure this puppy?

not exactly how the 4500 works, but the 4700 has IP interfaces (NIC's). Management is done through a browser... pointing at the IP address. Do you have support with EMC ?

There are two modes the serial port can be in.

Serial Application Mode (what your in)

where after post, it goes in to this mode, to allow for Management Software communication...

Your looking for the FCLI...

Type: {}{}

That should break you out of SAM...

then type MENU
select FLARE
select option 5 (start flare)

that should get you to the FCLI prompt.
