Hello, I have a Sunblade 1000 with the stock video adapter and a non-stock (PGX32 I think) video card.

On other systems (with two stock video cards I guess) I have been able to enable both monitors creating/modifying the file /etc/dt/config/Xservers to contain:

:0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -dev /dev/fb0 -dev /dev/fb1 right

On this system however I get two blank screens when doing this. If I delete the Xservers file and reboot the system works again but only on one monitor.

Running /usr/sbin/fbconfig -list displays:

Device-Filename Specific Config Program
--------------- -----------------------
/dev/fbs/m640 SUNWm64_config
/dev/fbs/ifb0 SUNWifb_config

The m640 is the stock card that comes with the Sunblade 1000.

What can you advise on this?

Thanks, Michael

In the past for two screens I never place the word "right"
into the statement.

Have you tried just uncommenting the local line?

i expect: /dev/fb0 is a link to /dev/fbs/ifb0
did you link /dev/fbs/m640 to /dev/fb1 ? -----------
when they don't ask you anymore, where they are come from, and they don't tell you anymore, where they go ... you'r getting older !

THis turned out to be soooo weired. I have the syntax bascially correct for the Xservers file but according to Sun, there is a tab after :0 (or some other character) in the file that is required??? Nuts. Can anyone else confirm this? Thanks again for your feedback! :)

This works:
:0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner -dev /dev/fb0 -dev /dev/fb1

This will not work:
:0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner -dev /dev/fb0 -dev /dev/fb1 Michael
