In Notes Client Version 5.0a this feature was/is available. In Ver 5.02a it is not. Basically, I want Notes to be the mail client but without the Enable MSOffice97 I will have to use outlook. Any suggestions on making this work short of going back to Ver 5.0a for all workstations. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Been there. The release your looking for is 5.0.5 This will allow you to enable the office associations in Notes. Now the install pattern is tricky at best. The only way i found through allot of background research and pulling hair was to install office, then lotus notes. For some reason unbeknownst to me Notes does'nt read the registry properly if installed prior to office, weird but what can i say, Microsoft. BTW if you find your unable to choose the association in the prefrences after installation try going into your IE explorer and associate it as your primary mail client. Saw that work in some instances also. Good Luck!

We ran into that problem every odd now and again. We went through the Registry, deleted the 9.0 MSIE install and left the 8.0 MSIE install. This allowed Notes 5.0.3 to read that Office 97 was available for association in the File > Preferences > User Preferences > Additional Options. As ever, experiment first to establish a procedure, document, THEN effect the fix across your user base.
