I have macros on some documents for years but all of the sudden it says they are disabled? I checked the security and lowered it just to try and it did not help.
Any ideas?

Something must have changed on your machine - security patches applied for example.

Yes security update from microsoft but how do I get my macros to work.

1. You mention "years". If these are WordBasic macros, well....some things work, and can be converted, but others, no so well. It is far better to rewrite them in VBA.

2. If these are NOT WordBasic, but VBA, then you are going to have to give more details - "how do I get my macros to work" is too broad a brush to answer. The starting question is - can you run then from the VBE? If yes, then it is likely you can run them from your documents.

So, can you run them from the VBE?

Make sure your Startup folder is part of Documents and settings and goes to Microsoft/Word/Startup; not Program files.....etc
