Hi,

We have a LinkSys RV082 , which I load balance two connections across WAN1/WAN2

WAN2 also has WiFi , So I set the WAN2 router to have a default gateway / subnet mask and DHCP all within the same range as our internal network range, but no one who is connected to the WAN2 box via WiFi can see any of the internal network resources.

Is this even possible to do and do securely?

I did just for testing change the RV082 firewall setting to allow all traffic on WAN1 & WAN2 , but still I couldn't ping the WAN2 default gateway IP from internal network nor could WiFi users see any of the internal resources.

Do I need to scrap the idea of WiFi on the external ISP router, and link up an internal WiFi device for access to internal network resources?

You help is appreciated

I am not sure I understand the set up.

Can you please provide a little more detail of the set-up?

For example,
WAN 1 10.1.0.0 255.255.255.0 default gateway 10.1.0.1
WAN 2 10.2.0.0 255.255.255.0 default gateway 10.2.0.1

Do you have any VLAN's set up?
How do the users get their IP, you mentioned DHCP, but did you create a DHCP pool?

Do the users using WAN 1 work the way you expect them to?

I found this link that may help too,

I have spoken with BT, the problem is we need to open up a DMZ pine hole on the BT 2Wire box, only the BT box doesn't see our internal RV082 router, even though the router see's the BT box and WAN2 is working fine?

So the question is why can't the BT box ping the RV082 router or see the router's address?

If it could we could set the BT box to DMZ the RV082 router and all should then work fine!

I've spoken with Cisco and they said it was because the Block WAN Request was enabled, but the ip address of the router internally is a LAN address not a WAN address.

Between BT amd Cisco my head is spinning...

Can someone explain in plain english how the following should be set up?

2 internet connections 1 from easynet one from BT.

Easynet box plugged into WAN1 on RV082 , all works fine no problem.

BT plugged into WAN2 on RV082 - BT box does not recognise the RV082 router, even though RV082 sees the BT box.

RV082 router is 192.168.0.1 - what is the address of the RV082 as far as the easynet & BT boxes are concerned because if I plug direct into either box with a cable and my laptop, I cannot ping the 192.168.0.1 address of the RV082 , which is an internal address.

So why does Easynet work fine and BT doesn't and why does BT engineer beleive the BT box should see the internal IP of the RV082 router?

I'm confused!

In the end I had to give up, the 2Wire router from BT doesn't work properly, even when you stick our internal firewal router in the DMZ on the BT box, still it doesn't let traffic through.

The only solution is to put the BT box in bridging mode and have our firewall router connect direct to the BT broadband!

Why does BT insist on providing hardware for business broadband that isn't suitable for a business environment, talk about not fit for purpose!
