Enable 'Change settings' in Windows firewall

Hi all

Have navigated to:-

Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall > Allowed Programs

in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version as Administrator to find 'Change settings' is disabled.

Firewall is on, Home or work networks, not connected, Public networks connected. UAC is turned off on this PC.

How can 'Change settings' be enabled, please?

Not sure but I think the clue is "Public networks connected"

I believe, for security reasons, you are not allowed to to muck about with the settings on a public network. At your own risk, if you are connected to a public network you can redefine it as a home or work network. Then you can change settings. NOT recommended though.

If you are at home or work though simply set it to be so.

Changed network to Work network and rebooted but 'Change settings' remains disabled.

Is the list of programs also greyed out? Once you click on 'Change Settings' the list goes black and the button is greyed. It seems that sometime when you visit it is as if the button has already been pressed! If both are greyed you have a problem. Otherwise that is the way it works.

The list is enabled, but by dragging on the dialog, the 'Allow another progam...' command button is exposed and have been able to add a couple of exceptions, which was the original requirement.

Find it strange as to why an Administrator would be denied access to 'Change settings'?

All Change Settings seems to do for me is to enable the list. If the list is black, 'Enable settings' is greyed out. So if enabled - no need for the button!
