EMV CC October 1 2015

Sorry if this has already been posted, bust has anyone heard anything about EMV CC, and deadline to have them in place by Oct 1 2015? I was wondering will it just need to be an updated cc swipe or will new terminals be needed? I haven't seen alot of people talk about it when it comes to pos.

this keeps changing so be careful. MC and Visa aren't in agreement so you may need to do Chip and PIN for one and EMV for the other. Best to wait for them to make up their minds. What you need to get will be dependent on the software you use. likely it will be some kind of software update and then you'll need readers that can do both. You will probably need to get the readers from the dealers and they will be encoded so only an authorized dealer can work on them. If a reader fails, the dealer will have to key one for you. Slightly harder than just swapping them.
