Emulating Control Characters in TextArea

when i change the contents of a textarea, i realize that i can force a carriage return by using "\n" (for newline). can i also force other control characters? specifically, i'd like to emulate the cursor right and left arrow keys and/or the home and end keys. [sig][/sig]
