Empty Windows Taskbar Icons Keep Reappearing

Hi,
Whenever I open a Word document, multiple tiny blank icons, with no name on them, appear on the Windows Taskbar. Whenever I click on any of them, they will just disappear out of the taskbar, and no program is opened, or switched to.
However, many will reappear once again should another document be opened.

Rename normal.dot to normal.old restart word.
Does this fix it?
