Hi all!

i recently got my CCNA (a month ago).
i tried looking through all of the job banks with networking jobs, but regretfully they all require at least few years of experience before-hand which i lack of.
i can config all routing protocols and all that, but don't have a corporate experience.
how can i set my foot into a networking job? anyone? any help is appreciated.
thanks

Start from the bottom and work your way up, if you know what your doing it will show and opportunities will arise.

Also apply to those jobs anyway, if you can get a foot in the door and impress them they might hire you anyway without the experiance.

the only bit of advice I can give you is to start in something like operations - tape backups, patching, pc builds. this is possibly the easiest arena to get into and you don't necesarrily have to have the experience, the CCNA will show that you have the ability to pick up technical skills very quickly.

I went this route, although I am still "part" of the ops team, most of my work revolves around networks, configuring and installing switches etc. My company have even said that they will put me through the CCNP academy with a view to moving me into the network team indefinatey.

Once you get your foot in the door work hard and show them you have the resources to solve what may be small problems - get respect from the right managers without sucking up to them and you career will begin to grow and with it you will get the experience needed to get the higher paid jobs.

thanks silks101,

i guess i will start with mopping the floor first.
hopefully my effort will payoff soon.

I really like this sentence: "...the right managers without sucking up to them..." ! :))))

I was in IT recruitment before I moved into Cisco - have a fair idea how to play the game ;)

silks101,

you've mentioned,

what sort of job title would those be?
also, right now i am studying CCNP and planning to take the composite exam by next month. hopefully i can pass that.
thanks in advance for your reply.
