How can I restore or find hidden files on the hard drive that an employee intentionally deleted before they quit? They are on the C: drive on a Compaq Desktop which is not connected to a server or a network. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Don't use the computer. If the files haven't been overwritten they can be recovered easily. There are firms that specialize in this trade. If the price is out of reach, you may be able to get a decent recovery with something off the self.

I have had some good experiences with Lost and Found (Powerquest). It's relatively inexpensive and pretty impressive... although a bit unnerving. It's a little scary when you find yourself looking at all the dead dinosaurs that pile up on a disk over the years.
