This isn't a problem, but more a search for advice. I've a customer who wants to put the Mitel (3300 MXe MCD10) into a state where no calls are processed, but a message is played for example "our office has been evacuated" or "were taking part in a fire drill"
Apparently their old INDEX system did this, they could use feature keys to enable the messages where required, they now want this for the Mitel.
I thought about using temporary greetings, but it won't be flexible enough for them and takes more than a few key presses to setup. I then thought about creating mailboxes for each message, when they need to, we could logon to the Mitel and set the answer point for the system to be the mailboxes. However they don't want to rely on us to make changes. So it has to be user controllable.

Any ideas on how I can provide a solution to this?

Many functions can be set via DISA

Simplest would be to setup a Night service answer point and activate Night service remotely via a Cell phone.

This allows for evacuation before activation (sometimes desirable if the building is on fire.)

Other options available such as third party call fwd.

Depends on what resources are available and how many devices/Applications need to be routed.

Thanks for the pointers kwbMitel, your seem to be my personal Mitel Guru at the moment, so thanks for all your replies.

In this case I would only want to route one DN, which is their main number, or if possible the entire system to one message.

I'll look into third party call fwd, I've never used DISA.

To route All numbers to 1 message would require Night service.

Both Options were assuming the use of VISA remotely. Sorry if that was unclear. DISA simply requires a DN to be programmed in the Misc Form. If the DN is a DID then it is accessible from the outside world. I recommend you use the one that requires authentication (Need to create a verified account code)

This is pretty easy stuff. Don't let the untried daunt you.

I have a solution for this now, using a dummy acd user and call forward follow me third party. By forwarding to a NameTag hunt group the destination DN is re-written by the name tag hunt group allowing the play out of which ever message we want. Obvioously this requires 1 mailbox per message.
