I installed IE Ver. 7. Worked fine except for a particular web site that I MUST have for business.

This site obviously is not ready for IE Ver. 7.

I uninstalled IE Ver. 7 and tried to install IE Ver. 6 but it said there is another newer version of IE and would not allow me to install IE Ver 6.

Somehow this file, iertutil.dll is corrupted or missing. It must be with IE Ver. 6.

Now no program start at all. Just boots to my screen ans that's it!

I used Task Manager and "Create New Task" to get to Opera.exe to leave this message. The file error still flashed however.

What can I do?

Thanks . . . Rick

If you used Add/Remove programs to uninstall IE 7, then IE 6 would have been reinstalled automaticly.

Nothing else needed to be done.

Further, for your issue it is likely all that was needed was a temporary change in the User Agent String:
For your issue, try (with the SFC /Scannow option enabled) the Ramesh, MS-MVP IEFix Utility:
If you used any other method than Add/Remove to uninstall IE 7 please advise.

The following is what I found at
This worked perfectly.

Thanks Again . . . Rick

Here was the solution.

If you download Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 and have IE7 Beta 1 or 2, you will be asked to uninstall 1 or 2 before installing 3. Easy as 1, 2, 3, right?

Wrong. You cannot uninstall the older IE7. You will notice that it remains installed and think nothing of it, because it's Microsoft.

Unfortunately, when you restart, explorer will not.

You will be notified of two missing files, Normaliz.dll and iertutil.dll.

Don't freak out. Here's what you do:
Open Task Manager (ctrl+shift+esc).
Find IE7 Beta 3 and run it.
It will begin, but Windows will not validate. Leave the install open.
Return to Task Manager and browse to the root of your C: drive.
Click inside the strange folder with a long string of letters and numbers.
Select the option to see All Files.
Find iertutil.dll and copy it.
Go to C:\\WINDOWS\system32 and paste.
Go back.
Find Normaliz.dll and copy it.
Return to ..\system32 and paste again.
Return to the IE7 Beta 3 setup and tell it to continue. This time, Windows will validate and IE will install.

To get your darn desktop back, return to Task Manager and run explorer.

Notice the number of this post. Fitting, isn't it?
