EMC san Event Error ID 15 on SQL Server db

We are running SQL Server 7 (60 gig db) on a multi Intel Clarion NT2K server (all SPs) with EMC SAN and it gets very SLO

(with medium to large queries) and will occasionally spit out this error on the NT systen log:

"Disk error Event ID 15
The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, is not ready for access yet. "
This device is where the database is located (on SAN).
(Note that the server is not booting at the time of error).
I can't find any references to this... any Ideas?
