EMC Intilization Error

I attempt to open the Exchange Management Console I get an Initialization Failed error.

I have downloaded and run EMT Shooter referenced in this blog

When I run the trouble shooter it says the the Management console requires the default website in IIS to be binded to port 80. It offers to repair the issue but fails.

When I checked the bindings of the default website it was already binded to port 80.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled exchange. I did not install any programs before exchange was installed, including updates. Once exchange was installed and I verified I could get in to the EMC I then installed updates.

After most of the updates were installed, only dot net 4 remained I believe, I then installed AVG.

Not sure if I needed to take such drastic actions as formatting the HD, but it worked so doesn't matter.

Seems to be working so far. Have not updated the public MX record yet. Will do that later today.
