i have finished most of the structural part for my site which includes a somewhat heavy initial page which is really my drop-down menu. now, if i want to keep this menu on the left hand side of the screen for each page, is there a way that i can just reload the changing text on the right by embedding another flash movie in the movie. if so, how do i do this?

thanks for any help!

i have, since the last posting, tried to create frame that i load when a submenu is clicked, but the problem i have is that the off button clicks page the info on the right back to the default position. in short, i cannot find a way to have the left complex menu remain while allowing a user to browse information that changes with the clicking of the submenu loading relatively light frames on the right....any ideas.

thanks again for any information,

julian

I am about ready for the funny farm at this point. i have spent all sunday here trying to work this menu out. I have a movie with my dropdown menu and i programmed each submenu kep to goto and stop in the main movie line dedicating a frame to what would be each information bit of the page so i don't have to reload the dropdown menu each time. however this did not work...it is a very simple idea, i would think , and i cannot figure out how to make the right side of my movie change while guarding the left...please write if you have any similar experiences or ideas.

thanks again,

julian

is this entire project on one flash object or r u using frames in html? could u provide a link to your project so that the ppl here could go see it and tell u thier suggestions, it would help a lot. could u also give more insights about how this project is suppose to look, like is it all flash or do u do html framesets things like that!

will be sleeping for now, will take a look again in about 8 hours.

Godspeed!

i haven't used framesets at all and was wondering about doing this...but can i use framesets in flash? i don't think so...and i haven't put the site up yet so i don't have a url for you. but i can say that the drop down menu is on the left and the info part of the pages on the right... i guess putting it in a frame set would be ideal actually...what program should i use to put the frameset? also, i do not want a frame that is visible to the eye, but one that looks like the whole page is one entity. does this make sense?

thanks for your help...

i went and found a site which somewhat resembles what i have in mind:

here though the menu on the left is not a drop down as is mine, the idea is that the right hand side changes and the complex and heavy loaded menu does not have to reload. is going to kill me to do this? haha..

thanks again,
julian

i have tried to work with frames, but this too does not help because the righ frame cuts off the drop down part of the drop down menu (which is really a drop right menu). i am desperate for help as i want to finish this site and technically cannot. i spend hours each day trying to find info regarding this and i simply cannot find anything related. if anyone could please take a moment and look at this page and let me know how the right hand side is done without reload the left, i would be ever grateful:

thanks again!
