Hi everyone, i'm new to flash and i'm creating a short flash movie and I'm using fonts that I downloaded specially for this project. I have searched for tutorials but I have not been able to find any documentation on how to go about embedding fonts. So when I publish my webpage with the flash, the viewers will be able to see my flash movie with the correct fonts. I'm new to flash so step by step instruction will be needed, or links to the proper documentation would work great. Thanks

If the text is static, Flash will automatically embed most font outlines...

If you're using dynamic text, no need to convert to symbols, but you then have to manually embed each specific font you would be using.
Make sure the text is dynamic, and hit the Character tab in the textfield's properties. And then just select Embed All... Or only some specific characters as numbers or whatever. This will increase your file size between 15-30KBs per embedded font though! Regards,

So if I declare as Dynamic Text, how do I go about using the alpha property to fade the text in and out. I do not see that as an option listed unless my item is a symbol. If I have to make my text a symbol before I can use the alpha property on it, then how do I go about embedding fonts in that case!!!

You simply put your textfield(s) inside a movie clip, make sure the font is embedded, and alpha the movie clip(s) themselves rather than the textfields. Regards,

great, how do I go about putting something into a movie clip? Thanks

I mean that's pretty basic stuff! If you don't know how to create a movie clip and put stuff in it, maybe you should start by checking the Tutorials, Lessons and Samples. Regards,
