Hi,

Anyone know how to create an outside number for an auto-attendant menu option/internal number?

Our "Nite chime" number is listed as mailbox number "6" but and has an extension number of 5099.

Our pool of numbers for the outside world all have a 221/226 prefix and we use a certain set of post-fix(?) numbers that are 56XX and 58XX that have been used since the inception of our system.
Meaning - 226-56XX and 221-55XX.

So, my mgr wants me to create an "outside" number for this "internal" 5099 extension that is used for customers/callers that dial into our main number "after" hours.

Can I change the internal extension of 5099 to an outside extension 226-56XX and still use(tie-in) the old mailbox number of 6?
Furthermore - preserve option #6 on the Auto-attendant menu so it can be used for callers/customers that call the main number so they can leave messages?

Please let me know if more details are needed or need to be clarified, thanks!

If you already have everything set up minus the DID number then I suggest you use the System Speed Call assignment form.

Create an entry for the digits you are receiving. If you receive 4 digits or are modifying the inbound digits to end up with 4 digits, then use those digits in the SPEED DIAL number field. Then in the ACTUAL NUMBER field, use the internal extension that you have already built.

System Speed Calls are actually unique dialing points that can be used to route calls with.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I am unsure what you mean by using a speed dial to help with an outside call or DID?

So would my 4 digits be converted like this?

DID=226-58XX to Speed dial=658XX

Think I understand this part - use the internal extension of 5099 for the actual number of 658XX?

Please help me understand.
Hopefully someone can reply and verify or explain this to me asap since this is an urgent request right now.
Many thanks!

I am going to assume that you have 4 digit extensions and that the system is either receiving 4 digits from the Telco or the Mitel is deleting however many extra received numbers to get it to 4 digits. This means that you only have to work with the last 4 digits of the DID number.

If your DID is 226-5800 then make your Speed dial number 5800. The actual number you will make 5099, as this is already programmed to ring the VM.

When you dial the speed dial 5800 from an internal set, the system directs the call to 5099.

Same thing happens with the DID call!! The system sees the digits 5800, recognizes it as a speed dial number, and then directs the call to the actual number programmed in there, in this case 5099!

Hi,

Sorry to be dense - but I am a rookie so please bear w/ me. <smile>

Do I need to create an Analog, Single line or Multi-line Set assignment for the DID number(5819)so it is connected with a PLID?

Or can I just create a system Speed call and it will be properly routed to my internal ext. 5900 and ultimately my #6 mailbox?

Make sense?
Thanks again!

as far as I can tell the #6 has absolutely nothing to do with your request. If you believe it does you need to give us more information on the task you are trying to accomplish.

If you need an outside number to go to your voicemail directly by dialing a DID just follow patersons instructions

Hi KwbMitel/Paterson & all,

Thanks - I get it now.
I created the speed call - it worked.

Only problem is that I try to opt out of the ringing by pressing "**"(star/star) to get directly to voice mail - it doesn't work like all the other extensions.
I think the system speed call or lack of a PLID has something to do with that?
How do I setup the DID speed call number to allow someone to opt out of the ringing and get into VM?

More details:
The user wants to call in using the DID number and go into voicemail without letting it ring X times.
But, I'm supposed to leave the 5099 number to ring X(6 or more) times in order to allow the machinists to get to the phone since they are watching/working on their machines.

So, the supervisors/mgrs want to call into this DID number and check to see if a voicemail was left by a customer/caller because the machinists in the shop couldn't get to the phone to answer it in time or X rings.

Sorry inundate you with all these details but they seem to matter and I'm trying to find a way top get this done!

Thanks,

SP

Okay, this is what I would set up.

Creat a hunt group with a Pilot DN equal to the last 4 digits of the DID you just used. You don't need to add any members. This means you have to delete the speed dial number first.

Then go into the Call Rerouting forms. You want to create an entry in the Call Reroute Always form to reroute all call types to the VM DN.

Then go into the Call Reroute Assignment form. Find the listing for the hunt group DN you just created. In the fields for DAY, Night1, Night2, insert the newly created Call Reroute Always entry you made.

Now, all calls to that DID will be immediately answered by the voicemail. The nice thing is that because there is no mailbox with the DN of the hunt group, the voicemail will immediately play the System Greeting. At this point, any caller can press * (once) and the system will prompt them to enter their mailbox number and then the passcode for that mailbox. Bingo, you're in the mailbox to listen to messages.
