I have several of my embedded voicemail auto attendant options transfering the caller to an outside line. to do this, I've created a short code to call the number I want to transfer them to and then pointed the auto attendant option to transfer to that short code. this works fine. However, our main number is being passed to the outside line as the caller ID instead of the caller ID from the original calling party. Is there a way to correct this?

No, a forwarded call cannot pass the original caller ID, only Mobile Twinning can do that.

I could create a bogus user with twinning enabled and have the auto attendant transfer to that user instead of a short code. Would that work?

Yes that would work.
Make sure you have a license that enables mobile twinning of course.

The only problem is Twinning will only work with a physical or soft phone, not a phantom user.

Yes you can. Tick the option twin when logged out.
So make it a hotdesk .

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You could try to send it to a shortcode and use .SS instead .

ShortCode;
Code: 0123456789
Feat: Dial
TelN: .SS
LnID: ARS

Or.

ARS;
Code: N (or 0N / 9N for outside line)
Feat: Dial
TelN: .SS
LnID: Trunk id

So this way no twinning needed, try it it should work but it all depends on the provider.
