I am using CR10. I have designed a letter to mail merge the database addresses and pick up a MS word (2003 but no difference if 2007) The crystal is in Arial 14 as is the word document (left aligned also) BUT when I print the letter the fonts look different! The embedded OLE font doesnt look correct, Any ideas, its driving me crazy!

As a wild guess, if the MS Word input were passed through a Formula Field with font and size defined, that might do it.

You haven't explained in what way the font "looks different": it might give someone else a clue if my suggestion does no good.

the font looks different in that it sort of looks 'justified', even spacing of letters within words and spaces between words accross whole width of page

I have done a search and cant find anthing but surely this must have been seen before

So can this be solved, sorry I dont understand your answer at all regarding passing the letter through a formula

If you right-click on the output, it should show you [Format Field], which includes justified text.

As for "passing through" - if the data were {word.splurge}, you could paste this direct to the report. Or you could create a Formual Field and include {word.splurge} within it.

One extra thought, maybe you are getting text with extra embedded spaces. I.e. it has two or more spaces between words. I don't see how this could happen but computing is a domain of the unexpected, so check.

Crystal can count the length of a field. Text pasted to Word can also be counted using Tools > Word Count, which generally gives number of characters and spaces as well as words.

Thanks, I have done further research on SAP site etc, it appears this is a know issue with no known solution yet other than creating the OLE document in pdf and merging this. I will follow this soltion as it looked ok with a known pdf document - but users will need a pdf editor to create their letters!
