Im wondering if anyone is aware of a way to limit people from dialing past 6 digits in the name directory or to make the name dir ignore any digits dialed past that point. Im working with a 3300 CX on 9.0 UR1. I have told the users if they understand english, to go ahead and follow directions and only dial UP TO 6 digits just as they are instructed to do so. So now, the Johnathan's and Jermiqua's of the office keep complaining that the call errors out after the users dials past the 6th digit of thier name.

Is there a way to have the system quit accepting digits at this point. Lets say someone is trying to call Jermiqua, when someone dials 5-3-7-6-4-7-8-2, the name directory will say you are being xferred to "8-2" then shortly after comes back on and says that it is not a valid number.

cknipe,

I feel your pain but really, the system asks for UP TO 6 digits. If the caller does not understand, how can you expect the system to?

You may as well ask the system to interpret misdialled digits while your at it. i.e. if it finds no matches it will return the closest match to the digits actually entered.

Just my two bits worth, no offense intended.
