Our graphics person has claimed to have correctly embedded images into our file. However, after the file is packaged for the printer successfully, and we go to another computer to open it up, we get an error listing the filename and then asking if we want to embed it. We get this for all of the images in the document.

Any ideas other than the files not being correctly embedded?

Thanks!

Hi,

First of all I never embed images in a pagemaker file, because it makes the file much too heavy for transport or working in it.

You can check if the images are embedded with the Links manager under the file menu. Click on an image and choose options there you can see if the image is included in your file.

If you wan't to have no need for images when going to the printer it's better to make a pdf-file, then you don't need the fonts or images of the original file.

Hello,
Also check to see if the images are OLE. (linked and embeded).
Grillhouse was also correct. You should NEVER embed your graphics for good work flow. Link the files and then run the save for service provider plug in. This will package the doc., fonts, images, and info about the doc that you would like to send.
Good Luck!

Everything correct, but the original question was:
"why asks PM for embedding, when the files are already embedded ?"
I would check by "High graphics resolution" , whether the images
are REALLY embedded. Then it´s perhaps a misleading information
only. PM embeds ALL files below a specified size (preferences).
Larger files are embedded on demand. A low resolution preview is
always created. ---Gernot
