using win2k server
use CDONTS
smtp is up and configured as in the tutorial

when running simple ASP from same PC, emails gather in Queue

test emails am trying to send to hotmail, yahoo accounts

1. in Event log it says
Message delivery to the remote domain 'hotmail.com' failed for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt.

2. no messages in SMTPSVC1 log, though a log is checked up in SMTP properties

3. default SMTP is 172.16.1.60
same IP mentioned in Relay list

any ideas?

See if you can connect to mx1.hotmail.com from the box in question. If you can't connect, then you have a firewall problem, or hotmail is denying you access.

Telnet mx1.hotmail.com 25

thx for advice

i tried telnet - it doesn't work
says "connect failed"

this w2k server i run at home, using 2Wire router/firewall

how to double check that port 25 is open in both ways

also i noticed that there may be a DNS issue
my domain is not setup normally, so hotmail & other may refuse connection if reverse is not set up
i did it, but am not sure if its correct

may be incoming requests to 25 port are blocked by some hidden firewall option on server itself?

how to check that?
