Emails links first opens my documents windows and hangs

A user, any time he tries to click a link in an email sent to him, instead of opening the website of that link, it rather first opens the my documents box ,then tries using the IE8 to connect the web site but then ie8 hangs without opening the link.
This issue only happens using the outlook 2003.However, if he uses the ie8 and click any link in any webiste, it does not behave like that.
