Hi

We have just migrated from 5.5 to 2003. Our Exchange admin was a little hasty when changing over and didnt make a note of all email addresses:

Jack Smith account default email is jsmith@domain.com
However Jack could have 5 addresses:

jack.smith@ Jack.smyth@ jacksmith@ etc etc

I know they should have only 1 address but its a long story and emails go to all addresses.

How can we collect all the undeliverable emails without sending NDR's back to the sender, so that we dont lose any emails and cause any confusion ?

Its a bit of a nightmare because theres atleast 100 users in the same situation and all emails are vital. And we dont know the email addresses in use until we see an NDR being sent back.

Thanks for any help

Dave

Why not just add the extra names to each person's Exchange setup? We have a dozen aliases for some people here.

We merged 3 domains and numerous formats of email address, so we would have to add 20+ different email addresses for each account.

In 5.5 we would have just forwarded the message from postmaster and then add the address to the user account. Without the sender ever knowing anything.

Set the NDR's to go to a known mailbox (like postmaster or something). The setting is in the system manager in [your Org]\[your Admin Group]\[your Routing Group]\[your Server]\Protocols\SMTP\Virtual SMTP. You can configure the NDR delivery location here.
