Hi,
Outlook Express 5 on Windows 2000 (sp2)wstation. Every day i check email all previous emails have gone. i always get the message from Outlook Express team saying "Welcome to OE" as if i've just installed the software and used for the first time. any help apprciated.

This is a problem with your DBX files where the data is stored. Check to see if you have more than one inbox.dbx file (i.e. inbox(1).dbx,...).

If I remember correctly it could be the folders.dbx file is corrupted and so it keeps creating a new inbox. Try renaming folders.dbx and then relaunch Outlook Express. The file should rebuild itself and hopefully recognize the original inbox.dbx file. joegz

there is only one inbox.dbx on the system. i renamed it and restarted as you said but the emails still disppear.
further help appreciated.

You rename in the inbox.dbx or the folders.dbx file? The folders.dbx is the file I was suggesting you rename.

Please advise. joegz
