emailing from Word 2k--mapi error

When I have a Word document open, and I choose File-Send To-Mail Recipient, I get a MAPI error stating:

The MAPI Spooler could not be started. Close and then restart all mail enabled applications.
MAPI 1.0 (000004C7)

Any ideas on how to fix this?

How have you set-up your MAPI mailer?

Are you sure you are using MAPI or are you using POP3 and haven't set it up yet?

What email client do you use?

Has this ever worked?

I use Outlook 2000 with Exchange server support.
This is the first time I've tried it. My email however works fine and has for a long time.
