I currently use Firefox and gMail for messaging.

The problem with gMail is that it attaches all previous messages with a post. Is there a manner of having gMail to only attach the message you are responding to and not include all the prior messages? I cannot find anything in the settings or options to allow this.

Should I be using something other than Firefox or gMail?

In the same light... I want to store my gMail messages on my harddrive. Is there an easy method of converting the files to store old messages and to cause new messages to be stored on my desktop?

In Settings turn "Conversation View" off.

Enable POP Download and use a desktop email client to access your GMail account.

Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP -> POP Download -> Enable POP

Thanks very much Chris... one of the forum members mentioned a client called Claws Mail... are you familiar with this, and, any issues? I don't do anything unusual with eMail, other than save it in directories nested 2 deep.

Claws, for me at least, is one of the better email clients around, I've used it for over ten years on Windows and currently on Linux.

There is also faq605-7932 with some alternative clients listed.
