Email without Outlook,Notes,or any email client? Is it possible?

I know the email clients use some special coding to create emails. Is it possible to bypass the client altogether and send the email straight from Access using VBA? I don't know what client each user will have. or if they will have any at all. As long as they have an internet connection, it would seem to me that it should be possible to send an email straight from Access, even if I have to put some kind of add-in or .dll in the folder. I want it all put in one package that I can install on each PC.
