Hello!

I hope someone can help me.

Every few days or so I have been receiving an email telling me that I have sent a message that contained virus.

I don't recognize the email address.

The messages seem to becoming from the same place, but different email accounts.

I keep my virus scanner definitions current and it never finds anything.

Is this message spam or what?

Is there extra security I can but on to Outlook and/or my PC to make sure it doesn't send a message without my knowledge?

THANKS!
CJ

Well it's possible that someone who has your email addy in their address book is infected and doesn't know it. There are viruses like klez that can make it appear that an email came from one address when in fact it was sent from another address and system altogether. So someone could receive an email infected with klez and it'll have your address on it but that doesn't mean it came from you. But they think it did cause it has your address on it and so they let you know that you may be infected. That may be what's happening.

You may not be infected but it's possible that your av program isn't detecting an infection so run a scan at the link below to doublecheck.

If that scan finds no virus then email everyone in your address book and ask them to run virus scans. You can include the above link. One of them may be infected and not know it and one of their systems may be responsible for sending out infected emails that have your address on them that the virus took from their addy book.
