Hello just wondering if anyone know how to or can recommend a way to have e-mails trigger to call a telephone number?

Right now, we can have e-mail trigger a txt message to any phone number by setting up a rule with e-mail to send a text via ######@vtext.com.

I was wondering if there is anything within the 4000 or xpressions where this can be done.

There is external software called "Fault Management" (aka "FM") that can send an email or SMS - based on an "event". Fault Management is a wonderful network management software package that has been engineered to connect to the 4K (and more recently the 8K/OSV). Fault Management receives the alarms, faults, and errors from the 4K, and allows the administrator to configure an action/response - such as SMS or email. For example, if the hard disk has failed, Fault Management can send an email to the technician. If IPDA has lost connectivity, a SMS can be sent to the network folks. Fault Management can manage all of the customer's network - not just the Telephony objects (4K and OSV). A free copy of Fault Management is provided with HiPath 4000 V6 and OpenScape 4000 V7. For all previous versions (V2-V5) there is a menu object on Assistant known as "Fault Management", but the FM "tool" that I am referring to is not provided. For all previous versions V2-V5, the Fault Management tool is a separate software package that can be installed on the HiPath 4000 Manager server, or a Linux server, or Windows server. It cannot be installed directly on the V2-V5 4K itself.

Other than FM, I know of no other way to generate an email based on an "event".

Oh WOW, since we have v5 where can I get a copy of FM?

It requires licensing, which means that it is not free software. You would need to contact your distributor or UNIFY Sales people.

Where do we find it if we have those versions? (I have V7) - is it in the portal so I can put it on my PC or did it come on a disk I don't have?

Thanks

From Assistant, click "Base Administration --> Application Control", then enable OpenScape Fault Management. Wait for it to be successfully launched.
Afterwards, reload/refresh Assistant, then open "Diagnostics". You should now have a folder named "Fault Management". Inside this folder, launch the OpenScape FM Client.

OK, I will check the application status. I did find the folder down there yesterday but couldn't get either of the icons to do anything. It does appear to be set up at least in part because when I hover over the icons the resulting link has my company name as part of it.

OK, I figured out that it's one of those funky things that needs Internet Destroyer to work (or just not Firefox). Are you sure it is included at no cost? In the status window everything says "Not Authorized". I have a V7 Duplex system with 6 IPDA.
