I am new to the lotus system of doing things. Currently here is my problem. I do not know how to forward an email to a public database. As we are an exchange shop in the process of going to lotus I am trying to figure out a way for an email to be sent to a discussion database. In exchange it is rahter simple. We forward the mail to a public folder. I have been advised by a lotus engineer that it is not possible to do this with lotus database. The email in question comes from a fax server and need to have public access to all in the company. Any thoughts?

A lotus engineer said that you cannot send mail to a discussion db ? Either your question is not detailed enough and is missing constraints, or you should tell your engineer to go back to school, or you didn't ask him what you're asking here.

Email forwarding is as simple as creating a Rule that sends a copy to somewhere on a given condition. To allow the Rule to send copies, you will have to define the Discussion db you use as a Mail-In database (check the Admin help or ask your friendly Admin for help on that one).

Or you could go for more complicated and create an agent with a Simple Function that does the same thing. You still need to define the Mail-In db.

Or you could go the whole way and write a scheduled LotusScript agent yourself to do the job - but that would be overkill in your case.

Set the Mail-In db and try creating a new Rule - it should be easy enough. If you run into problems, continue in this thread and someone will surely help you.

Pascal.
