Is it possible to use an email form on a web page to generate a csv file from the information that is either sent to an address or is stored on a web server for collection later?

Thank you any suggestions?

why CVS why not a simple DB in the background that can export CVS files?
just a thought....

Thank you for your suggestions,
A client would like to import information from an Email subscription page straight into a database, for his use.
He doesn't like the standard email he receives from the email form page.

He has requested that the email form page create and add to a CSV file on the web server, that he can download when he wants to get the latest subscribers. Is this possible?

Is this the best way to do this, or can any one suggest alternative.

Thank you for your help.

the next step would be finding out about your server type/pages.....

"your server type/pages"

I'm sorry I do not understand?

My ISP server I'm testing the pages on is a Apache/1.3.26 Server. But that means nothing to me. and the finished site will not be on that server, a hosting company has not been decided on yet.

The type of pages are all html at present.

Is that what you meant?

Thank you for your help.

yes....it depends on the Application Server Type and its ability to generate "CSV on the fly"....unfortunately Apache by itslef does not get u far unless it is tied down with some "modules" that can generate CSV files. Most commonly what people do is setup some DB in the back and depending on the server language - use the pages to collect and auto-generate-extract CSV files.....I have not done it myslef in code but that is how "theory" stands.
u could use:
-Apache(web)
?- PostGreeSQL(DB)
?- MySQL(DB)

?- JSP |
?- PHP |--language
?- ASP |
===================
All ov the above are FREE (except ASP on Apache- chilisoft)

I am not sure if pure HTML can handle it.....
Anyhow, I hope it helps
All the best!
