email stored on server rather than client

Hi all,

I am quite new to configuring sendmail (apart from installing) it and was wondering whether people could advise me on the following.

We have sendmail running on our Sunfire 120 (Sol 8)and various users access there mail from this server and download it to there PC clients using outlook. Once they have downloaded the mail in obviousely gets moved from the server to the PC client and saved on there workstation.

I heard rumors that there is a way you can can configure sendmail so it permentanly stores users emails on the server rather than downloading to the client? can someone point in the right direction if it is?

sorry if this is easy or a normal thing to do with sendmail but I can't find any information on this.

Hi,

You need imap server in order to store mail on server. Usually pop server store mail on client pc.

Hi thanks for the information, do you have any more info? imap with sendmail for example and how it can be configured? any good links? I haven't had much luck.
