MM 1.1 with Exch back end. The MAS is spooling messages (offline mode) - callers can leave msgs and users cannot login to their mbxs.

I can ping the corporate IP for exch;
I can access/edit/add users in Active Directory;
I have rebooted exch server;
I have rebooted MAS (several times);
Customer can access exch server directly from PC to server via RDP;

It seems as though the MAS application SW does not "see" the exch server while the Win2K OS does.

Online docs directed me to call myself!

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Is this a new install or was it running before?

If it was running before then it sounds like they put a patch on the exchange or on the MAS. Do the users get the access to your normal mailbox is not avalible msg ?

PSN # 492U - Antivirus software may block TCP/IP and UDP LAN ports that Modular Messaging requires to operate.
Problem Description:
Antivirus software, in some cases by its default configuration, may block specific TCP/IP and UDP LAN ports that Modular Messaging uses to operate. If this occurs, normal system operation may be interrupted.

Resolution:

Prior to installing or upgrading antivirus software on a Modular Messaging MAS, please review what TCP/IP and UDP LAN ports will be blocked by default antivirus application settings. If there are concerns that ports Modular Messaging requires to operate will be blocked, contact technical support to verify if those ports are required for normal system operation. It is important to understand how changes, if any, the antivirus software being installed/upgraded will affect the LAN ports on the

Thnx Ken...Totally forgot about that PSN #492U A/V updates and patches on either MAS or Exch.

This has been running - not a new install.

W2K: Server Version 5.0.2195 SP4 Build 2195
MAS has SP8 (MAS110806)

The users hear something to the effect of "There is a problem with the system. Please try back later."

That will be my first order of business - check patches on both servers.

We were able to run and capture a trace on the network. We started the trace after all services were stopped and before the services were started. We are trying to compile a list ot protocols and ports that are being utilized, thinking that something has shut down or changed one of them.
MS patch Tuesday did no good to either server. Haven't looked at the details, but was told it was a very large roll out from MS. We suspect something in there may have tickled the wrong fancy in one or both servers.
Thnx for any more ideas...Now I lay me head down to sleep as I ponder looking for a needle in the server-stack!
