Hi,

I have one scheduled report which goes to the user via email. I was wondering instead of send the report as an attachment can I send the report with the message. I don't want to send the hyperlink. I want to send the data with message body.

I am using Crystal Enterprise X.

Thanks,
BB

Yes.

Of course saying that you want to send the data is pretty vague, there are numerous export options available.

A common one is Excel if they need data, so select Excel as the format and don't select hyperlink, acn't recall the exact selection.

The question was kind of vague, so I'm guessing here - but I think that what is being requested is to embed the data results directly within the BODY of the e-mail message not as a separate file or attachment to the e-mail.

This isn't possible with Out-Of-The-Box CE-10, but you might be able to do it with a 3rd party application, or a .Net/Java application that you write yourself.

In BOE-XI (R2), I think you could do it if you run MS-Exchange Server, MS-Outlook and buy the BOBJ add-on for "Live Office" integration....but that's a $$$$ solution.

Well they say the file, and then they say the hyperlink, so I assumed it was a hyperlink concern.

The question isn't vague, it's contradictory.

Hi,

My question was whether I can send a report via email and the report content inside the email message body? I know how to send report via email, how to select different format and how send hyperlink of the report.

Thanks a lot. I am not sure whether we can use any 3rd party software or not.

Thanks again.

3rd Party - or writing your own .NET or Java application are your only options.

Depending on the complexity of your output, you could try accomplishing this using Alerts.

Create a alert in your report that will trigger every time the report runs (eg whenever a field that always appears in the report is not null). Set the text of the alert to a formula incorporating the output you require (e.g. some summary values from the report).

Schedule the report to run monthly to the Default destination in CE, but with your Alert emailing to whomever needs to receive the report. Every time the report runs, the alert will trigger and send an email containing your output string.

This works great for cases where you might only want to output a few simple summary values in the content of your email, not so well if you want to display a lot of data.
