i currently have a w2k server with exchange 5.5 running on it... what is the easiest way that i can make users forced to authenticate with a valid username and password to send an email from my server...

basicly i want to disable email relaying...

There is a technet article on this Q199656.
If you don't have TechNet go to the Microsoft online one.
Search for spam and relay

The article says that it sould be set different than what one would think just by reading the check boxes so read it carefully.

You might also look at your router and make sure that it is set not to relay.

Good luck

If you have the latest service packs installed, you can go to the routing tab | routing restricitons button in the Internet mail Connector properties to set this easily. Without the servcie packs, you have to use regedit
Dan.

any chance of getting a link for this information, i'm sorry to ask, but i can't find the info... i'm not a member of technet...
