Email Profile needed for sql monitor

How do I get an Email profile for my data base when I would prefer to use a VERY light email client? The clients that I have tried so far have not provided a profile that is available in the SQL Mail properties dialog.

Microsoft Outlook works fine for my SQL Server

The propblem is that I am in a start-up and don't hve the money to sink into solutions as expensive as that. I realise that Microsoft has a solution for nearly everything, but I need some thing extrodinarly more cost effective.
