email pages minimising not moving

I am using OSX 10.2.4 tho this was happening in 10.2.3 too in the Apple Mail app. the problem I am having is that for some reason when I try to move a message page over to the middle of the screen
BTW I wish I could have them open in the centre, is there a way to do that
the page minimises to the dock. It doesn't happen everytime but enough to be annoying so I would like to stop it happening.

I think you're accidentally double clicking on the title bar, which minimises to the dock. I can't find any preference for where the mail opens.

Ok thanks I wasn't aware that I was double clicking, i use a logitech trackball so it has to be fairly obvious. I will watch out in future, thanks for getting back to me.
