Okay, this probably isn't an NOS question. Can anyone give me pros and cons of the various email packages? I'm wondering which email system performs faster, is more stable, costs less, etc. The packages I'm most interested in are Mercury Mail, NetMail, or Groupwise. Or maybe I just need a simple SMTP/POP3 server that runs on Netware.Thanks.

In my opinion, Mercury sucks. I do have a client that loves it though. Maybe they've never used anything else. Seems like not a lot of people use it though.

NetMail is really a slim version of Groupwise. Basic email, no other collaboration tools. It's mainly web based, but I have a client that uses POP3 to access it with outlook. They seem to like it okay. If you just need a basic email, this may be an option. Would have to look up pricing.

GroupWise is a full collaboration package with calendars, shared folders, etc. GW7 can use the GroupWise client or Outlook, or you can use the Web based version that is pretty slick. GroupWise is stable. Its usually neglect of groupwise and/or the server that causes it to break. But the nice thing is you can run it on linux, netware, or windows. The great thing about GroupWise is that it plugs into eDirectory really nicely. For example, if you were to put in Exchange, you'd have to setup Active directory, create the accounts, etc. With GroupWise, most of the work is already done.

I'll agree with Marvin that Groupwise is extraordinarily stable. Can't comment on the others, I've only ever used GW and Exchange (and I bet you can guess my opinion of Exchange).

Gentlemen,
Thanks. Sounds like Groupwise is the way to go. Plus, I seem to remember from my Groupwise course that you can create ways to reserve conference rooms, vehicles, etc. Which we could use here. Thanks again. I always appreciate your input, the help I get from you is invaluable.
