I am new to Avaya Aura Messaging. Can anyone tell me how a email notification can be configured for an mail box ? And what are the troubleshooting should be done if email notification is not working for a mail box ?

If you log into the Storage Server GUI, under Administration go to Messaging, click on User Management, and enter the users number and click Edit it will take you to a page where you can do some administrative functions such as password resets and account unlocking. Scroll down to the bottom of that page and there is a link to the User Preferences. Click on that and then select the tab on the left that says Notify Me and it will take you to a page where you can set the email notifications.

I have a mail box which has email notification already enabled. But end user is not receiving email notification, when he has a voice mail on his phone. What should I check.

Does email notification work for any other users?

Is the email address an internal one or is it being sent to an external service? Some services do a reverse MX record look up and deny emails if there is no record for the sender.

You can look in the storage server GUI under IMAP/SMTP Settings and make sure that there are sessions running.

We are with following software version

6.3.124.335-1.253373

1.) make sure the user has initialized the box. VM to inbox will not work unless doing so.
2.) look at logs Logs>imap/SMTP messaging>SMTP(postfix)Logs > select date and search via mailbox box number.
if you see status=bounceand Unable to relay under mailbox you have a VM Relay issues (trying to send email to non company email address)

Talk to your exchange expert.
Make sure your client’s IP is allowed to relay through exchange server and you specify anonymous users are allowed to connect to your receive connector.

Do you have your SMTP relay setup under the Mail option ? It should be the one you entered under external host to relay all mail.
